CZ-NACE Industry Classification

CZ-NACE is the Czech national version of the European NACE system for classifying economic activities, used to describe what an organisation actually does — and reading it at source helps employers and candidates place a business or a role in the right sector.

For employers. HRHelperG helps define workforce requirements and connect you with suitable recruitment partners — see how it works, request workers and the business ecosystem. Not a recruitment agency; no placement guarantees.

What CZ-NACE is

CZ-NACE is a way of grouping economic activities into a shared set of categories, so that the work an organisation carries out can be described in a consistent and comparable manner. It is the Czech adaptation of NACE, the classification of economic activities used across the European Union, and it lets the same activity be labelled the same way wherever it appears.

It is maintained at national level by the Czech Statistical Office (Český statistický úřad), which aligns it with the wider European framework that Eurostat keeps for the EU. Because it sits within that European structure, an activity recorded under CZ-NACE can be compared with the equivalent activity in other member states.

How CZ-NACE is structured

  • It organises economic activity into broad sections that are then divided into progressively narrower groups.
  • Each level adds detail, moving from a general field of activity down to a specific kind of work.
  • A code is attached to each category so an activity can be referenced precisely.
  • It follows the same logic as the European NACE classification, adapted for national use.
  • It is published and updated by the responsible national statistics office.

How employers and candidates use it

  • To identify the sector an organisation belongs to in a standard, recognised way.
  • To compare similar businesses or activities consistently across regions or countries.
  • To interpret official statistics and registers that are organised by activity.
  • To complete administrative and registration tasks that ask for an activity code.
  • As a shared reference point when discussing what a company does.

Why it matters for employers

  • It helps an employer describe its own field of activity in a recognised way.
  • It supports workforce planning by framing roles within a clear sector.
  • It makes it easier to read sector-specific official guidance and registers.
  • It gives a common language when working with partners, advisers or authorities.

Why it matters for candidates

  • It helps a candidate understand which sector a prospective employer operates in.
  • It supports comparing organisations across the same field of activity.
  • It clarifies how a role fits within a wider industry context.
  • It makes official, activity-based information easier to navigate.

It is the Czech national version of the European NACE classification, a standard way of grouping economic activities so the work an organisation does can be described and compared consistently.

Who maintains CZ-NACE?

It is maintained by the Czech Statistical Office (Český statistický úřad), in line with the wider European NACE framework that Eurostat keeps for the EU.

How is it different from NACE?

CZ-NACE is the Czech adaptation of NACE for national use. It follows the same logic and structure, so activities can still be compared with their equivalents elsewhere in the EU.
